Meet Megan Wilson, Organizational Change Management Lead at Vistra Energy
Learn how she loves her pups, watches Survivor, and fights the stigma of Change Management as “touchy-feely.”

Question: Family, hometown, where you live?
By the time of the conference, I’ll be a newlywed! My future husband and I have two rescue dogs, Maggie and Landry, and a rescue cat, Coco Chanel. I’m from New Orleans, LA and I live in Dallas, TX.
Question: Your Utility/Change Management experience?
I have 7 years of utility experience and 3 years of change management experience.
Question: What do you like to do when you’re not working? Hobbies?
I like to take our pups to the dog park, try out new cooking recipes, and watch old seasons of Survivor.
Question: Notable achievements?
I received my MBA in 2016 while working full time. Also, I launched a college internship program with my peer, Brianna, in parallel to normal job duties. The program is in its third cycle and it’s already grown, increasing from two interns to three interns each semester.
Question: Where do you see Change Management in utilities in two years?
Increasing awareness for and transitioning customers into the next wave of power…batteries?
Question: What is your biggest challenge?
A: Getting users to read communications! No matter how many channels we use, there will always be some users who say they never heard anything about the upcoming changes.

I worked as an IT project manager for four years. During that time, I received my PMP certification.

Question: Who are a couple of your role models (and why)?
My parents are my biggest role models – they have worked so hard to raise my sister and me to value life and all of its experiences through travel, education, and family time.

Question: What is one of your biggest goals (in life or business)?
To effectively balance a successful career and family. I plan to keep growing in my career but want to dedicate my time to family as well – finding that balance is the key to my happiness.

Question: What’s the biggest misconception you run into in your role (or what people seem to think about Change Management?
That change management and communications are “fluff” and the “touchy-feely” stuff. Yes, we gauge user readiness but we don’t sit in circles talking about warm-fuzzies!
