Question: Name, title, company?
Brianna Champion, OCM Lead, Vistra Energy
Question: Family, hometown, where you live?
I have a younger sister, who I’m very close to, that lives in Houston. I was born and raised in Dallas and still live in Dallas.
Question: What is your utility/change management experience?
I have five years in utilities, three years in OCM (organizational change management).
Question: What do you like to do when you’re not working? Hobbies?
I am very close to my family so I love doing anything with them. I also enjoy playing and coaching volleyball.
Question: Notable achievements?
I received my PMP (Project Management Professional Certification) in 2015. I also helped create and now manage the Vistra Energy Technology Internship Program. We work with five local universities to hire at least two interns every semester – helping them understand what they like and don’t like about IT.
Question: Where do you see Change Management in utilities in two years?
As a process that is integrated with project launches, not something that is thought of after-the-fact.
Question: What is your biggest challenge?
Ensuring all stakeholders are in agreement with OCM communications and training methods.
Question: What did you do prior to working in your current role?
I worked as an IT project manager for two years.
Question: Who are a couple of your role models (and why)?
My grandmother is my biggest role model. She was an extremely hard- worker, never complained, the most loving woman I’ve ever met, and took great care of her family.
Question: What is one of your biggest goals (in life or business)?
Always do what I enjoy and maintain a healthy work-life balance.
Question: What’s the biggest misconception you run into in your role (or what people seem to think about Change Management)?
Some people don’t understand what OCM is so they see no use in it.
