Thoughts From the Boss – September 13, 2018

September 13, 2018 by Ashley Baptiste Leave a Comment

As we prepare for two conferences next week, we’re keeping an eye on Hurricane Florence as she gains strength and targets the Southeast of the U.S. I realize how wonderful it is that we work in a great industry! As thousands are evacuating the affected area, hundreds of brave women and men in utility crews are headed toward the predicted path to help restore power.  We wish everyone affected a safe and speedy recovery.

Do you need a refresher on storm communications via social media? Grab your bathing suit, sunscreen, get your approvals, and mark your calendar today for the 15th Social Media for Utilities conference, May 6-7, 2018 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Learn best practices from utilities across North America.

First

Is your utility bracing for a big change? A new CIS? A big system implementation? The Change Management for Utilities conference is a 2-day immersion in utility change management. You’ll see case study examples from other utilities, engage in in-depth discussion, enjoy peer-to-peer bench-marking, and return to your organization with proven strategies and tactics to make these changes easier, faster, and with a positive impact on your workforce. Join us next week (September 17-18) in Palm Springs, California or next Spring (March 4-5, 2019) in St. Pete Beach, Florida.

Next

If you’re responsible for continuous improvement in your utility, the Process Excellence for Utilities conference is an opportunity to learn from your utility peers. See how other utilities manage process improvement, challenge yourself with new ideas, strategies, and meet your counterparts from utilities across North America. Join us next week (September 19-20) in Palm Springs, California or next Spring (March 6-7, 2019) in St. Pete Beach, Florida.

Do You Need to Advance?

As we seek to grow our utilities into stronger and more diverse organizations, are you eager to learn how other utilities advance women? ADVANCE: The Power Conference for Women in Utilities features women who have achieved great success in our industry – and they are sharing their advice with you. It also features utilities’ women’s resource groups – how they are established, governed, and how they empower utility employees to recruit, retain, mentor, and advance women in their organizations. Join us October 17-18, 2018 in San Diego or next May 20-21, 2019 in Philadelphia.

The Future

Budgeting for 2019? Make sure you schedule in the best benchmarking, case study learning, and engaging networking for utilities. Put these in your calendar, your budget, share with your friends and colleagues, and let us know if you’re interested to speak or have topic ideas:
