Hey everyone! Ashley and Gus here, and we’re officially trading in our Philly digs for the sunny shores of Florida! After a whirlwind move, we’re currently nestled in a resort near Disney and Universal in Orlando, while we wait for our perfect rental in Fort Lauderdale. It’s been a wild ride, and we’re excited to share our adventures with you.
The Road to Sunshine (and Cracker Barrel Thanksgiving!)
Our journey began on Thanksgiving Day starting with a 20-hour drive, broken up by a charming overnight stay in Savannah, GA. But the most memorable moment? Thanksgiving dinner at Cracker Barrel! Yes, you heard that right. It wasn’t our usual holiday fare, but the food was surprisingly delicious, and our server was an absolute star. Who knew Cracker Barrel could be a Thanksgiving highlight?
Of course, no road trip is without its challenges. We battled 14 hours of straight rain on day one, and a surprise three-hour delay on day two tested our patience. But hey, that’s all part of the adventure, right? And the best thing we packed? A great attitude, of course! (And our conference gear, for those business trips!)
Orlando Resort Life: Pools, Fireworks, and… Alligators?
We’re currently calling Westgate Lakes Resort home, and it’s quite the experience. With seven pools, on-site restaurants, mini-golf, fishing, and nightly Disney fireworks, it’s like a vacation within a vacation. Plus, the airport’s proximity has been a game-changer for our frequent business trips.
Of course, resort life isn’t without its quirks. We miss having our own space and personal belongings, but the convenience and amenities are hard to beat. And the location? We’re spoiled for choice with amazing restaurants and shopping venues nearby. Did you know the world’s largest McDonald’s is just two miles away? It’s a sight to behold!

We’ve explored Disney Springs and Universal CityWalk extensively, but haven’t made it to the parks just yet. We’ve been a little busy with other things, like watching a Falcon 9 launch and spotting a few alligators!
Florida Living: The Good, the Funny, and the “Philly Roll” Missing
We’re absolutely loving the Florida weather. Cold days in the 60s? Yes, please! It was quite funny when the weather forecast told us to enjoy our winter clothes for a few more days, and it was 61 degrees. Talk about a warm winter!
What do we miss about Philly? Hands down, a good sandwich on a real Philly roll. That’s a taste of home we’re definitely missing.
As for advice for anyone considering a similar move? Keep an open mind! You never know what adventures await.

Fort Lauderdale Bound: Big Dreams and Sunshine
We’re excited to make big things happen in South Florida. The amazing people, the fantastic weather, and the great airport in Fort Lauderdale are calling our names. We are looking forward to producing more events in the area.
Stay tuned for more updates on our Florida adventure! We can’t wait to share what the future holds.
